Socialization?

They will probably describe doing things with other kids their age and learning to get along, which is socializing. Socialization is learning the norms and standards of society. They may be referring to that instead, which my husband sometimes does, but I want my children to learn those things from me, not 20 other 6 year olds (or 12 year olds, etc.).
